This Samsung Galaxy A55 5G was collected from a customer this morning after the display had completely failed. At first glance, however, you could easily think there was nothing wrong with the screen.
The outer glass was virtually intact.
Look very closely and you'll see a tiny crack near the edge of the display. Despite how small it looks, that damage was enough to affect the OLED layer underneath and leave the phone with no working display.

Modern OLED screens are made up of multiple layers. The glass you touch is only the outer part of the display assembly.
Underneath are the touch and OLED display layers. These can become damaged even when the outer glass shows little or no obvious cracking.
That’s exactly what happened with this Samsung Galaxy A55 5G. The damage was tiny, but it was enough to cause the OLED display to fail.
